At this time, when there seems to be so much uncertainty in our lives, it is normal for us to feel stress—because we are living in a new and abnormal situation. However, acute and chronic stress may affect your health, your relationships, your work performance, and your ability to enjoy your life.
Beat stress by practicing these stress-reducing habits:
- Don’t over-react to stress-inducing circumstances. Don’t make mountains out of molehills.
- When something goes wrong, don’t focus your attention on your anger and anxiety; instead consider the options available to you—so you can solve the problem.
- Set realistic expectations for yourself and others. Aim for the best you can be, not perfection.
- Make friends. They’ll give you a lift when you need one.
- Get away for a while. Take a long weekend trip, or see a movie, escape into a great book, put on headphones and lose yourself in music. Remove yourself from the emotion surrounding your stress for a while. You may be able to put things in a better perspective after the break.
- Take care of yourself. Eat well and get enough sleep.
